Electrician

PURPOSE OF THE JOB To install, repair, and maintain electrical installations, machinery, and components to the highest engineering standards, ensuring minimal production downtime and strict compliance with safety regulations. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, appliances, and fixtures using hand and power tools. Diagnose malfunctions in systems and components using test equipment to identify and rectify breakdowns efficiently. Conduct inspections of electrical systems to identify hazards, defects, and necessary repairs, ensuring compliance with OHSA, SANAS, and SABS codes. Respond promptly to breakdowns and execute repairs quickly to minimize production delays. Accurately perform maintenance shutdown tasks adhering to the highest engineering standards. Plan, organize, and order necessary spare parts from main stores to complete assigned tasks. Maintain all company tools in a safe and good condition and report any damaged equipment to your supervisor. Adhere to and understand lock-out procedures for safety. Ensure all distribution boards and panels are clearly marked, closed, locked, and safe. Assume the duties of the Electrical Foreman when requested or in their absence. Maintain excellent housekeeping standards at all times. REQUIREMENTS Educational Requirements: Minimum N3 qualification with at least one relevant electrical subject. A recognized and verifiable Trade Test Certificate. Completion of a formal apprenticeship. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of post-trade test experience within a heavy industrial environment.
