    POST: Electrician (x2) REF NO: MN05082026 EMPLOYER: Copalcor LOCATION: Head Office CONTRACT: Temporary GRADE: MEIBC Grade A REPORTS TO: Superintendent DATE ADVERTISED: 05 August 2026 CLOSING DATE: 17 August 2026 (close of business) PURPOSE OF THE JOB Install, repair and maintain the electrical installation, machinery and components. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES • Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical and electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus and fixtures using hand and power tools. • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus and components using test equipment and hand tools; identify causes of breakdowns and rectify faults. • Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with OHSA, SANAS and SABS standards and regulations. • Perform maintenance and shutdown tasks accurately while adhering to high engineering standards. • Plan, organise and requisition spare parts from the main stores to complete assigned tasks efficiently. • Liaise with operators, production personnel and plant managers so that repairs, maintenance and modifications meet operational requirements. • Conduct daily inspections (as directed by the supervisor) of substations, electrical equipment and emergency alternators to ensure they are safe, operational and ready for use (standby mode). • Understand and enforce lockout procedures; ensure all colleagues comply. All equipment must be properly locked out before any work is carried out. • Assume the responsibilities of the Electrical Foreman when requested or in the foreman’s absence. • Assist the Mechanical Department when requested or when troubleshooting support is required.
